Mogwai

Since my little Mac is poorly, I have to resort to this PC~~. It doesn't remember who I am when I go to the blogger website, or when I go to Flickr. It does let me change colour, though. Anyhow, fingers crossed she will get better soon:-) I think she will.

I am listening to Mogwai. I really do like them. I like track 7 (I do not know the title of the track since R didn't write them down for me) of this album, Happy Songs for Happy People.

I also finally got a copy of On Beauty, which I can't put down. It's been a while since I sat down and really got into a good book.

Sorry! I don't normally do track titles, though I did try to get my parents' computer to print them out.

Ah, let's see if I can remember (you have no idea how often I listen to this record):

Hunted by a freak
Moses? I amn't
Kids will be skeletons
Boring machines disturbs sleep
Killing all the flies
Ratts of the capital
Golden Porsche
something
Stop coming to my house

Hard to decide which is my favourite, but I'd probably say that once you get used to it the last track is best.

(I can verify that Scots really do say amn't sometimes.)

On Beauty dominates.

PS How come the Mac's a girl? Not that I have a strong opinion on the gender of computers..

i just finished reading On Beauty this evening. i couldn't put it down until i had finished it... it's SO good! the last bit almost made me cry... i don't know why. do you think kiki will forgive him again? well, i guess she never did forgive him the first time round. do you think he deserves to be forgiven? i felt so sorry for poor Jerome, but i guess carl and that victoria girl deserve each other. the person i feel most sorry for is zora though~ i reckon carl isn't good enough for her anyway.

Fre, i can't believe you saw zadie smith!!

oh, i hope i didn't give away the plot to anyone...

of course my Mac is a girl. she can be relied upon (except when drowning in coffee).

my computer doesn't have a gender..but it has a name-- it's called 'little black'... it's usually drowning in dirt, I don't know why...
jenny
you should write a proper book review...

I love that Mogwai album too and I think there's a song in that album called 'don't come to my house again' and I played that when some guests were here...

I really liked On Beauty. The end was very cool: I think Kiki will forgive him but I suppose it's not important. I do feel sorry for Zora, and of course Victoria is evil.

One of the reasons I really loved it is that it's obviously set right now, quite specifically. Also I know people who went to, and have even applied for some jobs in, liberal arts colleges like the one in the book. From the next-to-nothing I know, the portrayal is pretty accurate.

I'm going to copy you some more Mogwai. It'll be great.

Thanks, R. Looking forward to that. I've just listened to Friend of the Night. I like it:)

Wanyu, I can't write reviews (unlike you).

Wish we could come to your party too~~~ I will be round soon though to steal your cd's and return the guitar...

Happy new year! xxxx

PS, Richard... What's not important?? Whether or not she forgives him or what he did? Confused.
